Here's how each payment processor handles failed recurring payments:
Retry is done by Stripe. The retry is based on your account settings:

Additionally, Stripe also has the Automatic card updates feature. It ensures payment continuity when customers receive replacement cards.
Retry is done by PayPal.
PayPal retries the payment every 5 days for up to twice per billing cycle.
If the second retry fails, PayPal counts this as a payment failure.
